What is a TURNaround?

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

We could catch breathtaking glimpses of the Grand Canyon
as we drew closer to it, but as we stepped past the tree line
and onto the walkway, “breathtaking” wouldn’t begin to
describe it.  It was like stepping out onto another planet.
It’s hard to believe, that given enough time, mere water
could turn a landscape into a gallery of  sculptures,
sunk miles deep in a valley of colors
beyond the wildest imagination.

Life will do that.  Given enough time, the storms of life can do
to you what water does to the Grand Canyon.
You don’t suspect anything at first because
the water seems to be harmless.
But suddenly there’s is a small cut across a rock face and before you know it, your whole landscape has turned into
something not at all like you expected.  The question is: is it a beautiful landscape of determination and passionate
strength or is it just a gaping hole of resignation and emptiness?

I had no idea what it meant to “follow Jesus”, when I made the decision to follow Him, I just knew that It was time for a
change.  I didn’t like what I was becoming.  And although the “unfairness of life” didn’t change when I made that choice,
it did change what it was doing to me.   The outrage and bitterness was replaced with a renewed compassion for
others.  Instead of being suffocated with the hopelessness that life tends to bring, I was fueled with a determination to
walk away from potential pessimism. I found strength and healing here that is not found anywhere else.  Jesus was the
turn around I needed.

Sometimes we stop and take a look at the direction we are going and realize that we need more than just one or two
changes in our life.  Sometimes we need to make some hard choices to create a total turn around.
